Frequently Asked Questions.

We have compiled a list of common enquiries about labels that our customer service team receives. In case you cannot locate the information you need from the list below, please feel free to contact us via phone or email.

Label Materials & Adhesives

  • Are you able to print on any type of self-adhesive material?

We can print on a wide variety of self-adhesive materials, ranging from 20 micron film to 350gsm non-adhesive board. While we can print on almost any type of self-adhesive material, some very thick materials may not be suitable for our presses.

  • With so many material options available, how can I determine which one is right for me?

If you're unsure about which material to choose for your label enquiry, simply reach out to our customer service team. They will ask you a few basic questions to help you select the most suitable material for your needs. These questions may include: What product will the labels be used for? What type of surface will the labels be adhered to? How will the labels be applied (e.g., by hand or with an applicator)? Are the labels expected to withstand extreme conditions (e.g., heat, cold, wet, chemical exposure)? What type of finish are you aiming for? With such a diverse range of materials available, our team can assist you in selecting the best option and even provide you with samples to test out. Don't hesitate to ask.

  • Are you capable of producing labels that are waterproof?

Certainly! However, we highly recommend conducting testing beforehand. We have a variety of synthetic materials and adhesives that are approved for use in saltwater environments and would be appropriate for creating waterproof labels. Please contact our sales team to learn more.

  • How long will my labels last, and what is the recommended storage method?

The labels we produce will remain viable for up to 18 months from the date of material manufacture, provided they are stored correctly. To maintain their quality, it's recommended that labels be stored at 20-22°C with a humidity level of 50-55%. Additionally, label reels should be stored horizontally, rather than vertically, and kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources. It's also advisable to employ a "first in, first out" stock rotation system to ensure freshness. If you require the specifications for a specific material, please contact our Materials division.

Artwork & Design

  • What is the recommended file format for sending artwork?

Our team prefers to receive vector artwork in PDF or AI format. For Flexographic and Digital orders, we can accept some image formats. However, if the artwork is of poor quality, it may not be usable or result in pixelated or blurry labels. If you need assistance with re-creating artwork in a suitable format, please contact us directly.

  • How much time does it take to get a proof?

Our design team strives to deliver artwork proofs as quickly as possible, with the goal of providing them on the same day as your order details have been confirmed. However, in some cases, such as when an order has a large number of variations or requires extensive adjustments, it may take a bit longer to produce the proofs. We understand the importance of timely communication and will make every effort to ensure that you receive your artwork proofs as soon as possible.

  • Do you charge for artwork?

No, we never charge for design proofs when customers order their labels with us, as we believe that assisting our customers with their custom label design will demonstrate our commitment to providing and helping them in the long term.

  • Can you design my artwork?

We frequently assist our clients by creating designs and layouts for labels at no cost. Additionally, we can also produce intricate designs from the ground up, including product labels or promotional material.

  • What is the usual timeframe required for production and delivery of your products?

We take pride in providing fast turnaround times while ensuring that the quality of our work remains top-notch. On average, our lead time is around 4 days starting from the moment we receive the approved artwork. However, repeat orders or those with pre-approved artwork may be completed even more swiftly. If you have a tight deadline to meet, we will do our best to assist you in meeting it. Assisting customers with urgent requirements is one of our specialties.

  • Is there a charge for delivery of your products?

Orders exceeding £300 qualify for free standard next day delivery within the UK. However, the cost of same-day or international deliveries may differ. For additional information, please contact our customer service team.

  • What do I need to do to set up a credit account with Eco Labels?

To request a credit account, kindly reach out to our customer service team to initiate the discussion. You will be required to fill out our New Customer Account Form online, which will be subject to approval. Label Production

  • Are you able to manufacture labels with multiple layers or peel-and-read functionality?

Certainly! Despite their complexity, we are skilled in producing multi-layer and peel-and-read labels. These types of labels are often necessary when a small product requires a significant amount of regulatory information. The most commonly requested options are 3 printed pages (2-ply) or 5 printed pages (3-ply). We can also incorporate features such as serial numbering, tactile varnish, and multiple text layers if required.

  • What are the minimum and maximum print sizes that your presses can accommodate?

Our digital presses can accommodate varying web widths, with the maximum sizes being: - 320mm x 980mm on the HP Indigo WS6900 - 322mm x 2400mm on the Truepress L350UV Inkjet Additionally, if you require very small micro-text, the HP Indigo WS6900 can print 0.7pt font size at 100% density in any of its seven available colours.

  • Is it possible for you to produce labels in any color or shape?

Certainly. Our extensive collection of printing presses allows us to achieve a full spectrum of colours. Additionally, we have numerous cutters readily available for each press. In the unlikely event that we don't have a cutter in stock for the specific size or shape of label you need, we can promptly order one and have it delivered within 24 hours.

  • Is it possible for you to manufacture labels in the form of flat sheets?

Certainly, we can fulfil your request. While our printing presses are designed to use reels, we do have finishing machines that can produce labels onto a sheet in your desired size, rather than on a reel, if that is what you prefer.

  • What are the winding specification?

Since most of our label orders are produced on reels, we would need to know your preferred winding specifications before beginning the manufacturing process. This specification may vary based on the applicator used to apply the labels onto your final product. However, if your labels are intended to be applied manually, the winding specification may not be necessary. You can download our reeling specification guidelines for further details.

  • Do you print digitally or conventionally?

Both! We can print digitally or flexo.

  • Is it possible for you to add varnish, foil, and embossing to labels?

We can certainly assist you with incorporating various enhancements such as hot and cold foil, embossing, debossing, high build varnish, textured varnish, and other unique features that can make your product label distinctive on the shelf.
